Try the Apple TV’s Dark Mode to Avoid Blasting Your Eyeballs

by Sarah Dobson on November 18, 2019

Although the light-colored background of the Apple TV Home screen provides a neutral backdrop for its colorful icons, it can be uncomfortably bright in a dark room. To dim things down, configure your Apple TV to use Dark mode, which sets the background of the Home screen to black. To switch from Light to Dark, activate Siri on the Apple TV and say “Dark mode” or navigate to Settings > General > Appearance and select Dark. tvOS 11 can now switch between Dark and Light modes automatically, based on sunset and sunrise times. To activate this setting, go to Settings > General > Appearance and select Automatic. (You may be prompted to enable Location Services or Time Zone; tvOS needs them to know when sunrise and sunset occur.)
