The Fastest Way to Find Flight Status Info

by Sarah Dobson on November 13, 2017

When friends or family are flying into town, it’s helpful to track their flight so you know when to pick them up at the airport or whether to expect them for dinner. With Apple’s latest operating systems—macOS 10.13 High Sierra and iOS 11—the best way to find flight information is via Spotlight. Open the Spotlight search field and enter the airline and flight number, like United 788 or Delta 7433. Airline abbreviations like UA 788 or DL 7433 work too. Spotlight responds by showing the flight’s status: whether it’s on time or delayed, its departure and arrival times, and its arrival terminal. It also displays a map of the route showing the plane’s location. (To open Spotlight on the Mac, click the magnifying glass in the menu bar; in iOS, swipe down on the Home screen.)
