iPhone 5 Rumor Updates

by admin

Since our first post on iPhone 5 rumors, things have continued to heat up with more features coming heavily into speculation.

The latest rumor swirling in the iPhone 5 rumor mill is that we’ll see a curved glass surface, similar to the Nexus S (according to DigiTimes.) This comes, of course, after a rumor stating that Apple has purchased 200-300 glass cutting machines.Whether the curved glass will be concave or convex is yet to be determined. Meanwhile, the Nexus S is rocking the curved glass, which is said to improve usability and fit more comfortably in your pocket. Reason enough to buy the iPhone 5? Maybe. I’m also MAYBE being sarcastic about that.

There are also rumors that they will  move the LED flash to the right side to improve indoor and night photos. This photo from Ars Technica shows a photoshopped iPhone 5 sporting a larger screen, which they say is highly unlikely, and the shifted LED flash.

One of the more interesting rumors is that there’s a unified baseband processor, meaning there’s a possibility of Sprint and T-Mobile users getting official iPhone support.

I continue to subscribe to the school of thought that these updates aren’t that great, but we’ll see. I might be persuaded. What about you? Are you still convinced it’s not worth the upgrade? Or are you chomping at the bit to get your hands on one?

Friday Funday Office Tomfoolery

When the cat’s away the mice will play. Or really, when Joe, our Operations Manager, goes to Brazil, the rest of us get crazy with tin foil.

Keep it together with iCal

by Meredith Carlile

I love iCal. It’s great for some many reasons, one being an e-mail reminder for events or meetings so if I don’t have iCal up, I still get an e-mail telling me what’s up. Plus, having a Mac for personal use, a Mac at work and an iPhone, it makes it so convenient to sync all my calendars together so I know exactly what’s going on with any of my devices.

I tend to go a little overboard with organization. I color code my closet ok, so why wouldn’t I want to color code my iCal? The two iCal options, i.e. home and work, just weren’t working for me. I wanted to separate all the different things going on at work (like meetings, reminders, conference calls, etc.) but still keep my personal things (like my hair appointments or a concert or something) on my calendar and differentiate them by color. I learned this little trick my first week at Simply Mac, and it literally changed my life. So, if you want to spice up your iCal and make it all yours, check this out!

Go to File > New Calendar. I didn’t know you could add calendars (I know, duh right?) so this was revolutionary to me and also so, totally awesome.

iCal organization

From here, name it whatever you want. The sky is the limit.

iCal tips and tricks

So, let’s say you had a new calendar, and you call it events, but  you don’t like the color. All you need to do is right click the calendar and select “get info.” From here you can re-name your calendar (if you already have stuff saved to your home calendar, for instance, you can rename it to something more relevant if you like) and even change the color. My favorite is to select more colors and play around with all the color options at your fingertips.

iCal organization

Not too hard, huh? And now, you have a color-coded calendar to help you stay on top of your game!
